Approved Boating Safety Course

Pennsylvania FBC-Approved Boating Safety Course

Before launching the Online boating safety course the BoaterExam team worked in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission to ensure that all the information in the course is as accurate as possible and will thoroughly prepare students for the Pennsylvania Boat License Test.

The online course contains numerous state-specific sections that highlight Pennsylvania's boating laws, rules and regulations. These sections are highlighted in blue boxes throughout the online boating safety study guide, so watch for them! The final boating safety exam will have a minimum of 10 Pennsylvania-specific test questions that relate to these sections.

Completing the online boating safety course will allow you to obtain your Pennsylvania Boating Safety Certificate. (often mistakenly called the Pennsylvania Boating License) from the PFBC. The Boating Safety Certificate is required for all PWC operators and most motorboat operators on Pennsylvania's waters.

Boating License or Boating Safety Certificate... is there a difference?

The boater education card is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course. The boater education card does not expire and does not need to be renewed. Therefore, it is NOT a Pennsylvania Boating License!
