Arizona Boating License vs. Boating Safety Education Certificate?
Many boaters incorrectly use the term "Arizona Boating License", "Arizona Boaters License", or "Arizona Boat License" when they refer to the boating safety education certificate. In fact, the boater education card is NOT a license. The card does not expire, cannot be revoked, and never needs to be renewed, which is the case with a driver's license.
Then, how to I get the Boating Safety Education Certificate?
You can obtain the Arizona boating safety education certificate (Arizona boating license) by successfully completing the online Arizona boating safety course and passing the Arizona boating license test. What's
more, once you've passed the final exam you can print out a temporary certificate, and go boating right away! The permanent certificate arrives in the mail within a few weeks after you've passed the course and exam.
So why is it called an Arizona Boating License?
Since many people are used to using the term "license" it's a natural assumption that you need a boating license to drive a boat instead of a boater education card. The Arizona Boating Safety Education Certificate is what you need in order to drive a boat on Arizona's waters.
