Colorado Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation-Approved Boating Safety Course

Before launching the Online boating safety course the BoaterExam team worked in conjunction with the Colorado DNR's Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation to ensure that all the information in the course is as accurate as possible and will thoroughly prepare students for the Colorado Boating License.

The online course contains numerous state-specific sections that highlight Colorado's boating laws, rules and regulations. These sections are highlighted in blue boxes throughout the online boating safety study guide, so watch for them! The final boating safety exam will have a minimum of 10 Colorado-specific test questions that relate to these sections.

Completing the online boating safety course will allow you to obtain your Colorado Boating Safety Certificate. (often mistakenly called the Colorado Boating License).

Colorado Boating License or Boating Safety Certificate... is there a difference?

The boating safety certificate is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course. The certificate does not expire and does not need to be renewed. Therefore, it is NOT a Colorado Boating License!
