Operators in Georgia must reduce speed to avoid endangering persons or a person's property from the effect of their watercrafts wake. Reduce speed when approaching or passing the following;

  • Vessels underway, lying to, at anchor, or made fast to the shore
  • Piers, docks, or boathouses
  • Someone in the water
  • Someone involved in towed water sports or on a surfboard

An example of violating this law would be the following:

  • If your boat runs into an object because you were traveling too fast and were unable to stop in time.
