Kansas Boating License vs. Boater Education Card?
Many boaters incorrectly use the term "Kansas Boating License", "Kansas Boaters License", or "Kansas Boat License" when they refer to the boater education card. In fact, the boater education card is NOT a license. The card does not expire, cannot be revoked, and never needs to be renewed, which is the case with a driver's license.
Then, how to I get the Boater Education Card?
You can obtain the Kansas Boater Education Card (Kansas boating license) by successfully completing the online Kansas boating safety course and passing the Kansas Boating License.
What's more, once you've passed the final exam you can print out a temporary certificate, and go boating right away! The permanent certificate arrives in the mail within a few weeks after you've passed the course and exam.
So why is it called a Kansas Boating License?
Since many people are used to using the term "license" it's a natural assumption that you need a boating license to drive a boat instead of a boater education card. The Kansas Boater Education Card is what you need in order to drive a boat on Kansas waters.
