Michigan Boating License Overview
For those under 16 years of age
This online boating safety course is approved by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a study tool for those persons required to take a boating safety classroom course. Successfully completing this exam will prepare you to obtain the
Michigan Boating Safety Certificate.
If you are under 12 years of age, you can use the course and exam as a study tool but you are not able to operate a motorboat or take the proctored exam until you are at least 12 years old.

Study the Michigan Safe Boating Course Manual

- NASBLA and USCG approved
- Covers 100% of the boating exam material
- Either study the safe boating course online, or print off the manual

Take the Michigan Boating Exam - Pay only if you pass!
- Pay only if you Pass: $29.95
- 60 Questions (multiple choice)
- 80% needed to pass (48 right answers)
- No time limit, Review any wrong answers
Step 3
Get your Michigan Boating License
- To receive your official Michigan Boating Safety Certificate, you must take a boating safety classroom course and proctored exam.
