Mississippi Boating License vs. Boater Education Card?
Many boaters incorrectly use the term "Mississippi Boating License", "Mississippi
Boaters License", or "Mississippi Boat License" when they refer to the boating safety
education ID card. In fact, the boater education card is NOT a boat license. The card
does not expire, cannot be revoked, and never needs to be renewed, which is the
case with a driver's license.
Then, how to I get the Boater Education Card?
You can obtain the Mississippi Boater Education Card (Mississippi boating license)
by successfully completing the online Mississippi boating safety
course and passing the Mississippi Boating License.
What's more, once you've passed the final exam you can print out a temporary certificate,
and go boating right away! The permanent certificate arrives in the mail within
a few weeks after you've passed the course and exam.
So why is it called a Mississippi Boating License?
Since many people are used to using the term "license" it's a natural assumption
that you need a boating license to drive a boat instead of a boater education card.
The Mississippi Boater Education Card is what you need in order
to drive a boat on Mississippi waters.
