Mississippi Boating Safety Education Requirements
All boaters on Mississippi waters who were born on or after June 30, 1980 must carry a valid Mississippi boater education card Mississippi Boating License while underway.
The online Mississippi Boating License satisfies this state requirement. Passing the online exam allows you to obtain the Mississippi Boater Education Card and get out on the water right away!
- Persons under the age of 12 must be accompanied by someone 21 years of age or older in order to operate a boat.
- Children 12 and younger must wear a PFD (lifejacket) at all times while the boat is underway.

Boating License or Boater Education Card... is there a difference?
The boater education card is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course. The boater education card does not expire and does not need to be renewed. Therefore, it is NOT a Mississippi Boating License!
