New Jersey SPRC-Approved Boating Safety Course
Before launching the Online boating safety course the BoaterExam team worked in conjunction with the New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau
to ensure that all the information in the course is as accurate as possible and will thoroughly prepare students for the New Jersey Boating License Test.
The online course contains numerous state-specific sections that highlight New Jersey's boating laws, rules and regulations. These sections are highlighted in blue boxes throughout the online boating safety study guide, so watch for them!
The final boating safety exam will have a minimum of 10 New Jersey-specific test questions that relate to these sections.
Completing the online boating safety course will allow you to obtain your New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate (often mistakenly called
the New Jersey Boating License) by bypassing the 8-hour classroom course and going straight to a proctored final exam. All boaters on New Jersey's waters must possess the boating safety certificate to operate any motorized vessel, including personal watercraft (PWC).
(often mistakenly called the New Jersey Boating License) from the State Parks & Recreation Commission. The state of New Jersey is currently phasing in mandatory boater safety education. By the year 2015, all boaters on New Jersey's waters born after January 1 1955 will need to carry the New Jersey boater education card when operating on state waters.
Boating License or Boater Safety Certificate... is there a difference?
The boating safety certificate is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course. The boating safety certificate does not expire and does not need to be renewed; therefore it is NOT a New Jersey Boating License!
