Online Boating Exam Process

Complete the following 3 steps to get your boating license online:

STEP 1: Boater Registration
Proceed to boater registration
  • Cost: $49.95, FREE retry if required
  • Payment by Credit Card, PayPal, or Cheque
  • Your exam must be supervised (see step 2 below)
STEP 2: Supervisor Registration
Proceed to Supervisor Registration
  • Cost: FREE
  • A supervisor is a non family member
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card is NOT required to register
STEP 3: Take the Boater Exam
Take the Boater Exam
  • 36 questions (multiple-choice)
  • 45 minute time limit
  • 75% needed to pass (27 right answers)
  • Print a temporary card when you pass
  • Permanent Card mailed to you in two weeks

What is a Supervisor?

The online exam must be supervised by an age of majority, non-family member. The Supervisor must ensure that no cheating takes place during the exam.
