Georgia DNR-Approved Boating Safety Course

Before launching the Online boating safety course the BoaterExam team worked in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to ensure that all the information in the course is as accurate as possible and will thoroughly prepare students for the Georgia Boating License Test.

The online course contains numerous state-specific sections that highlight Georgia's boating laws, rules and regulations. These sections are highlighted in blue boxes throughout the online boating safety study guide, so watch for them! The final boating safety exam will have a minimum of 10 Georgia-specific test questions that relate to these sections.

Completing the online boating safety course will allow you to obtain your Georgia Boater Education Card. (often mistakenly called the Georgia Boating License) that is approved by the DNR. A Georgia Boater Education Card is required onboard for all persons between 12 and 16 years of age while underway in order to operate without adult supervision.

Boating License or Boater Education Card... is there a difference?

The boater education card is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course. The boater education card does not expire and does not need to be renewed. Therefore, it is NOT a Georgia Boating License!
