A. All Kentucky boaters between the ages of 12 and 17
years old must get a Kentucky Boater Education Card to legally operate a powered vessel over 10hp including PWCs,
unless there is an adult who is 18 years of age or more on board to supervise
and accompany them or with someone who has already obtained their boater education
card. If you don't fall into this category, being certified has other benefits such as boat insurance discounts.

The Certificate of Completion is a temporary proof of competency and proves that you took a boater education course and passed. A. You can take the final exam at any time, day or night. The exam is not timed but inactive exams will be erased after 24 hours.

A. You can take the online course at any time, day or night. However, if it has been more than 12 months since you have started the course, you will have to restart the course from the beginning (if you already paid, you will NOT have to pay for the course again).

The exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions.

The passing grade is 80%, or 48 correct answers out of 60 questions.
