1. Study the South Dakota Safe Boating Course Manual

- NASBLA and USCG approved
2. Take the South Dakota Boater Exam — Pay only when you pass!
- Cost: FREE — Pay only when you Pass!
- 60 Questions (multiple choice)
- 80% needed to pass (48 right answers)
Take the Exam
3. Get your Boater Education Card
- Cost: $19.50 — Pay only when you Pass!
- Your Boater Education Card is automatically mailed to your home.
Education Requirement
Although there is currently no mandatory education requirements in South Dakota,
an Educated Boater is a Safer Boater. By taking a boating safety course, you help
ensure our waterways are the safest they can be. Not to mention, completing a course
may reduce your boat insurance 10-15%!
