The boater education card is proof that you have successfully completed a boating safety course.The boater education card does not expire and does not need to be renewed. Therefore, it is NOTa West Virginia Boating License
The online boat safety course and online boat test have been reviewed and approved by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Completing this course will allow you to obtain your West Virginia Boating License.

Register for the boating safety course and boating license test for free. You pay a one-time fee once you have passed the test and wish to obtain your Boating License.
A West Virginia Boating License is required for all persons born after December 31, 1986 who operate a powered watercraft on West Virginia waters.
