North Carolina Boater Safety Course
Any person born on or after January 1, 1988, must successfully complete a NASBLA-approved boating education course before operating any vessel propelled by a motor of 10 hp or greater.
Personal Watercraft (PWC) Age Requirements
There is a minimum age requirement of 14 years old, for those who wish to operate a PWC
All boaters who are at least 14 years old but less than 16, may operate a PWC only if they are under the direct supervision of a person who is either 18 years of age or older; or if they have successfully completed an approved boating safety education course
No one under the age of 16 may rent a PWC unless they have successfully completed an approved boating safety education course and are at least 14 years of age
Proof of age and safety course certificate must be with the youth during the operation of the PWC

You can take the online course at any time, day or night. However, courses must be completed within 90 days of payment at which time your access to the course will expire.

The exam consists of 60 multiple choice questions.

The passing grade is 80%, or 48 correct answers out of 60 questions.
